Best Nail Protein Ever!

Being that my job is very hands on my nails take a beating throughout the week. I’m always looking to keep my nails long strong & healthy. This base coat is from Columbia all the writing on the bottle is in spanish so I have no idea the name! I just tell people its a base coat with a green top and it’s usually $12 or more in beauty supply stores or in nail salons. If you don’t want to spend that much just ask your nail lady to use it as the base coat before you get polish. I think it’s a great investment! There is a process that goes along with the polish. The first time you use it put on 2 coats wait 2 days then every other day you add a coat. I do this for about 2 weeks then take it off & start again. My nails grow so fast with this polish I love it! Once I get the length i’m looking for I’ll start wearing color again & just using it as a base. I definitely recommend trying it out!

Lazy Girl Dinner Idea.. Bake everything!

Let’s face it everyone gets lazy now & then. Not everyone likes to come home from a long day of work to cook dinner. There are plenty of nights I just want to pick up the phone & order take out but I would rather be healthy & save money! So I suck it up and think of something to make for dinner. Baking is one of the easiest ways to cook dinner there is hardly any clean up! Especially if you put foil over the pans you roll it up & clean up is done! My go to place for when I’m feeling lazy is Fresh market they have an amazing selection of fish, chicken & meat that are already seasoned and just ready to throw in the oven. The other night I bought almond encrusted salmon all I had to do was put it in the oven for 12 minutes! Along with the salmon I picked other vegetables that are great in the oven I choose brussels sprouts, asparagus & sweet potatoes.

IMG_4385

For the asparagus & brussels sprouts I drizzled olive oil over them with salt pepper & a complete seasoning I found in my spices cabinet. The sweet potato fries are just a sweet potato cut in thin slices like fries also with olive oil, salt & pepper. I put the sweet potatoes in the oven first on 400 degrees. When they were half way done I put in the veggies I let everything bake until soft. The salmon I put in last because it takes the fastest to cook.

What is your go to lazy meal?

Fruit, Almond & Spinach Salad!

This past weekend I was having a lazy saturday & didn’t feel like leaving the house at all. I was getting hungry around lunch time and kept thinking I have nothing to eat for lunch! I stared in the refrigerator & pantry for 20 minutes trying to figure out what I was going to eat. I wanted something heathy & I had different fruits on hand so I put together this salad! It actually came out really good! Perfect for a lazy Saturday afternoon!

I used 5 carrots, 2 oranges, 2 apples & handful of strawberries. Strawberry juice is amazing I did this recipe without the oranges & added more strawberries it was even better!

Almond Milk Ice Cream!

Every now & then I love to walk through Whole Foods. It’s such a amazing store pricy but I still love it. They have great smoothies & gelato milkshakes. While walking around yesterday I walked through their ice cream ale and came across almond milk ice cream. Ice cream is my weakness I could have it every day for dessert especially chocolate chip cookie dough. So I’m trying to look for a healthy alternative. I love almond milk for my cereal, coffee, smoothies, & overnight oats , so I figured this ice cream should be good. I’m not going to say it’s bad but it doesn’t compare to regular ice cream! It’s good & it satisfied my craving for ice cream but still don’t think I could ever give up actual ice cream! Next time I go I’m going to try the soy milk ice cream I’ve head the coconut milk ice is terrible!

Have you ever tried this type of ice cream? Do you have a favorite?

What I wore: White & Nude

I love white & nude together it’s simple, clean & classy. You can look polished in a simple outfit that can be dressed up or down. The only rule with white & nude is don’t wear it to someone else’s wedding! I don’t even agree with no white after labor day especially in south florida we can wear white all year round, after all they do say winter white! We went out for a friends birthday last night & this is what I wore

Work Out of the Day: Cardio & Squats!

People either love or hate cardio I am one of those people who absolutely love it. It’s such a great way to clear your mind you definitely get that runners high after running outside! However studies show adding some strength training into your daily workout routines have great benefits. Strength training burns calories even after you are finished working out the more muscle you have the more calories your body burns at rest. That is enough motivation for me to add some strength moves to my routine. I like doing squats & lunges add some hand weights while doing these moves burns even more calories. I usually do 50 squats & 50 lunges. These are a killer on your thighs & your butt!

I’ve been doing 2 miles of cardio either biking, walking or running. Then I’ll start my squats & lunges. Don’t forget to take a off day so your body can rest & build muscle!

Homemade Guacamole!

I think guacamole is one of the best side dishes ever! I love making it at home it’s so healthy & easy! Avocados are good fats but you still can’t over do it. They are also great for your hair, skin & nails. Guacamole is so easy to make & there are many variations depending on what you like to add to it. I don’t like spicy foods at all so my guacamole is always mild & I’m not big on spices all I put in my guac is tomatoes, onions, lime juice & avocados. I use whole wheat tortilla chips to dip!

Banana Nut Breakfast Cereal!

Cereal is a great healthy breakfast option if you aren’t an oatmeal fan. Just make sure you choose a healthy cereal that isn’t full of sugar! The best thing to do is buy a plain cereal that is full of whole grains & no added sugar. The plain cereals I like are Total & Bran flakes. Total cereal is a great source of iron which a lot of women have low iron & don’t like eating red meat this cereal is a great option. This way you can add all natural toppings to it instead of the dry fruits that they claim are real fruit but never tastes the same. I personally hate the taste of artificial bananas & strawberries. I would so much rather add my own fresh fruits & nuts. You can add so many other toppings to cereal fruits, nuts & seeds. My other favorites are chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seed & wheat germ. You can change it up each day so your plain cereal will never get boring & you will have a heathy filling breakfast.

Banana Nut Cereal

I just added bananas, walnuts, flax seed & wheat germ. Just add your favorite milk & you have the perfect healthy breakfast! ( Vanilla almond milk is the best for cereal! It gives it a completely different flavor!) What’s your favorite healthy cereal ?

Favorite Summer Nail Colors!

This summer season the brights are in! Especially the blue green colors are very popular. I love changing my nail color each week but that can get expensive especially since my favorite nail polish brands are Essie & OPI. They can go for $8.00 per bottle. Essie solved this problem for me by creating mini bottles! They do them by collection & put the 4 top colors from the collection in 1 package for $10.50! I love it because it gives you the option to try on every color! Think about it have you ever completely finished a whole bottle of nail polish? Especially these bright summery colors. Don’t get me wrong I still buy regular size bottles especially Essie ballet slippers & OPI’s funny bunny they can be worn year round & are my favorite colors.

The other great thing about the smaller bottles is the smaller brushes they make giving yourself a mani even easier! The color on my nails is the blue the last bottle on the right my favorite one from this collection.
